This week, my friends at No Such Thing had me on the podcast for an episode called “Do you need therapy?”
Their goal was to demystify the process of therapy, talk through how to find a therapist/how to know you’ve found the right one, and discuss what therapy is and isn’t, moving beyond the common misconceptions and oversimplifications. (sound familiar?)
I had a great time yapping with my friends and spitting some takes. If you have a listen, you’ll learn:
my thoughts on how to know if therapy is “working”
some hot jargon from the biz such as transference and unconditional positive regard, and what it means for therapy to be relational
why I can’t be your therapist if I’m your friend
why I believe your therapist should be a real human person
whether I’m therapizing you if we meet at a bar
what decades-old tv show I am currently obsessed with
…and more!
If anything from the pod sparks your interest, or you have any questions or feedback, hit me up via DM or leave it in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
And if you’re new here, welcome! I always love to hear thoughts and ideas about what you’d like to read about in the letter.
Talk soon.
